TourTurf® MBL is a liquid micronutrient fertiliser with nitrogen (N), manganese (Mn), sulphur (SO3) and magnesium (MgO). The product is an efficient remedy for manganese deficiency in all types of sports turf.

Manganese is an important trace element for all types of turf. All plants need manganese for healthy growth and reproduction. The product also contains LPT that promotes rapid nutrient uptake through the plant leaves and roots.

Why does manganese deficiency often occur in grass?
Grasses grown intensively on sandy greens are at high risk of suffering deficiencies in micronutrients such as manganese. Although there is often a high content of manganese in the soil, it is not usually available to the plant. Manganese is only easily soluble and transportable in the form Mn++, which allows it to be quickly absorbed by the plant.

Deficiency symptoms
Symptoms include leaf chlorosis (clearly visible structural damage to chloroplasts), reduced root growth and low photosynthesis, which leads to a lack of carbohydrates and amino acids and effects the plant’s regeneration.

Strong plants
Manganese plays an important role in lignin biosynthesis. Lignin strengthens cell walls and enhances the plant’s ability to resist stress. Manganese deficiency is particularly associated with attacks of the Take All fungus, Gaeumannomyces graminis.
