TourTurf® EXC Respond® Extreme Curative is a wetting agent which will help to solve water repellency problems caused by Dry Patch and Fairy Rings in sports turf. It works by breaking down hydrophobic coatings of sand and soil particles found in turfgrass root zones.

Respond® EXC Extreme Curative contains a specific blend of surfactants and organic acids designed to remove the cause of water-repellent soils, and to remove the waxy mycelium deposits from Fairy Rings and Dry Patch on the sand in the root zone. Water repellency is caused by the waxy lipids that coat sand and soil particles, making them hydrophobic.

The microorganisms responsible for making soils water-repellent are Basidiomycetes fungi.

To solve problems caused by Dry Patch and Fairy Rings, combine the application of TourTurf® EXC Respond® Extreme Curative with TourTurf® FTD and ETD to improve microbial activity as well as hollow coring aerification and soil replacement with TourTurf® ZSC Zeolite Soil Conditioner.

Respond® EXC Extreme Curative can be applied at any time of the year. For best results, use in early spring before starting with the yearly wetting agent programme. Apply again in autumn after the final wetting agent treatment.

Curative Fairy Ring Treatment
Spike the fairy rings to a depth of the mycelium in the soil plus 2 cm.Holes should be very close together and should be made 10 cm either side of the ring aswell as in the green ring itself.

Spike the fairy rings to a depth of the mycelium in the soil plus 2 cm.Holes should be very close together, the more the better and should be made 10 cm either side of the ring as well as in the green ring itself. This is because mycelium spreads underground wider than the visible ring on the surface.

Irrigate/drench using a hosepipe until water floods on the surface. Leave to soak in. This process often but not always works on breaking the water repellency of the fairy ring mycelium. If the process is only partially successful, repeat as necessary and then afterwards apply a suitable preventative measure, applying light irrigation afterwards to wash the chosen product into the core holes.
